Ryan Saylor is a political and media relations specialist, focusing on political and non-profit consulting, S.E.O. (search engine optimization) and social networking solutions.
He has consulted with various political campaigns throughout northwest Arkansas, including having served as both fundraising director and press secretary for Ken Aden, Democratic nominee for U.S. Congress in Arkansas’ 3rd Congressional District. Ryan has also provided web development services for both Edwin Sugg, Democratic nominee for Arkansas State Representative – District 88, and Maria Hicks, Democratic candidate for Washington County, Arkansas, Justice of the Peace – District 7.
Prior to his work in the 2012 election, Ryan worked as a freelance journalist, contributing to The Vista, a university-based newspaper in Edmond, Oklahoma; and Arkansas Tonight, a Fayetteville, Arkansas-based online political news magazine. Ryan also volunteered at the campaign headquarters of Andrew Rice in his 2008 U.S. Senate race in Oklahoma and Gen. Wes Clark in his 2004 presidential campaign.
Ryan also founded and managed Midnight Politics, a regional political news and opinion website. While at Midnight Politics, Ryan extensively covered the 2010 U.S. Senate race between then-U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln and U.S. Rep. John Boozman, reporting live from Little Rock and around the state on multiple occasions throughout the election.
Ryan also started a podcast and online talk radio show, Midnight Politics Radio, where he and a panel of political experts and journalists would discuss local and national politics and take questions from callers. In addition to discussing the politics of the day, Ryan interviewed candidates and political figures from across the nation, including Diane Benson, 2010 Democratic nominee for Alaska lieutenant governor; Arkansas State Sen. Joyce Elliott; comedian, singer, writer and former Texas gubernatorial and agriculture commissioner candidate Kinky Friedman; Arkansas State Rep. Greg Leding; birther queen Orly Taitz; and numerous others.
Currently, Ryan lives in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He is a member of the Washington County Democratic Party and the 3rd Congressional District Democratic Hispanic Caucus. He attends Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. Ryan is also the Democratic nominee for Washington County, Arkansas, Constable – District 9.
